Enjoy the infamous Yellow Bird!
Welcome to the first racing version of the 992 generation Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. It has been made for the Mobil 1 Supercup and the Porsche Carrera Cup and is 25 hp more powerful than its predecessor, which means it now has about 510 hp. at 8,400 rpm and is "one percent" faster on the track thanks to optimized aerodynamics and various chassis changes.
The 992 GT3 Cup uses the body of the Turbo to accommodate wider wheels: they now have 12 inches at the front and 13 at the rear. Also, more aluminum has been used in its construction. The 911 GT3 Cup 991 had 30%, but in this new version of the racing car this figure rises to 70 percent, which does not mean that, at 1,260 kg, it is 35 kilos heavier than the model it replaces .
The rear axle "has hardly changed" compared to a 911 street car, but the front axle uses technology from the 911 RSR for "more precise turning behavior," according to Porsche. The shocks also borrow technology from the RSR and the 919 Hybrid (which you know was a Le Mans winner), while the hydraulic steering has given way to an electromechanical one.
As for the engine, it has been designed to run on synthetic fuels, which according to Porsche "significantly reduces CO2 emissions in racing conditions." For the rest, the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup 992 uses a 4.0-liter naturally aspirated six-cylinder boxer capable of turning at 8,750 rpm, which should sound exciting to say the least thanks to the new exhaust it mounts.
As for the transmission, the brand claims that the six-speed sequential gearbox offers faster changes and can withstand 120 hours of racing without a major overhaul, which is not bad at all.
