The Crown Inn - Archive Project
The Crown Inn, Dial Post, West Sussex was a free house owned and run by Penny and James Middleton Burn. Opposite the village green, the pub has a strong reputation for the excellent quality of its homemade food.
Our daily menu reflects whatever is in season and James, who is also Head Chef, is often out forraging for wild garlic, chamomile, blackberries, apples and mushrooms. He supports many local farmers and producers with home-cured meats, sausages and bacon from David Jesse at Calcot Farm and vegetables from Derek and Vicky Crush at Daylands Farm, Ashurst. Venison comes from the neighbouring Knepp Castle Estate, free-range Sussex eggs from Hallgate Farm and Luke the fisherman brings his daily catch straight from the boat.
